Case Study : Julian Nicholls
Julian Nichols - Private Chef
Case Study - Julian Nicholls, Private Chef. Creating images for his new website, capturing his food, style and a few portraits
The Brief:
Julian Nicholls, a talented private chef, approached us to create a visual identity for his brand - a very personal commission.
Very early on he admitted to being incredibly nervous about promoting himself and appearing infront of the camera.
Our challenge was to capture the essence of his work and character - without making it feel staged or self-promotional.
The images also needed to meet the expectations of his web designer, who required a cohesive and polished suite of visuals to launch Julian’s new website. They also needed approval from Julian’s wife - who is very proud of him.
Our Approach:
We choose to shoot in Julian’s home - an intimate, familiar space that allowed him to feel comfortable and express his talent and craft naturally.
The shoot was designed to be unobtrusive and authentic, allowing Julian to work as he would for a Client, while we captured his passion, technique and artistry.
The Results:
Avoiding overly styled or flashy compositions, instead opting for warm, intimate aesthetic that mirrored Julian’s personality - we captured a quietly confident, passionate and highly skilled Chef - also a very handsome one, according to his wife.
The final collection of images told Julian’s story without forcing him into the spotlight.
It provided his web designer with a versatile and consistent set of images that captured the heart of his offering : a private chef with skill, soul and integrity.
By creating a relaxed, collaborative environment, we were able to turn Julian’s initial nerves into quiet pride.
